eBay Italy came to us for a creative C2C social media and onsite marketing campaign to encourage buyers to try selling on the platform.
Approach
As the campaign spanned Valentine’s Day, love was a natural choice for the theme. But we decided to subvert cliché with a message that asked: The love affair is over, so what do you do now? The answer, of course, is you get rid of your ex ― or in terms of your stuff, you Sell it. We used those famous breakup lines that everybody’s heard or said at least once in their life to give the campaign universal appeal and get buyers to start selling.
Action
For the 2-week campaign we created onsite banners, social media assets for Facebook and Instagram, and targeted HTML newsletters. The catchy, fun and ironic campaign made a splash, with over 10M impressions and 100K clicks onsite and 1.2M video views and 5k likes on Facebook and Instagram.
